New York Rangers: Free Agency Preview

Overall, the 2018 NHL Draft was a success for the New York Rangers (I’ll have my article fully reviewing the draft coming out soon!). At the same time, one thing became abundantly clear this past weekend: The New York Rangers are rebuilding. They are not going to try another “re-tool on the fly”, they aren’t going to try and find any shortcuts, and they’re not going to rush it. They are going to rebuild, and they’re gonna do it right. With the draft in the books, the Rangers must quickly…

Brian Paget’s NHL Draft Rankings: Top 10

A few weeks ago I took an in-depth look at some of this year’s top prospects (read here!). After many more hours of research and scouting, I decided on and ranked the top 10 players in 2018 NHL Draft. *Note: This is not a mock draft. I don’t think the draft will go in this order. New York Rangers: NHL Draft Preview

With the NHL Draft Lottery in the books, the New York Rangers shift their focus towards the upcoming draft. After not picking in the first round from 2013 through 2016, the Blueshirts selected Lias Andersson and Filip Chytil with the 7th and 21st picks respectively in 2017. New York will look to add to their improving prospect pipeline this June, as they possess three first-round picks, and a total of seven picks in the first three rounds, thanks to Jeff Gorton’s successful trade deadline. Missing out on the consensus top…

New York Rangers: Early Offseason News and Notes

The New York Rangers’ season ended in disappointing fashion, but they’ve had a busy start to what should be an eventful offseason. Here is what has happened thus far. See ya AV: Jeff Gorton’s first move of the offseason came last Saturday night when he relieved Alain Vigneault of his head coaching duties less than six hours after the conclusion of the Blueshirts’ regular-season finale. AV was tremendously successful in his first two seasons on Broadway, as he led the Rangers to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2014, and then…

Rangers Out-Tank Islanders in Uneventful Late Season Battle

Thursday night’s metropolitan division matchup between the New York Rangers and New York Islanders was unlike most other recent meetings between the two rivals. The tilt lacked intensity and physicality, as both squads are playing for nothing more than pride and draft lottery odds. The Blueshirts and Isles sit beside one another in the standings, with both groups facing the possibility of finishing anywhere between 22nd and 25th in the NHL’s leaderboard. The Isles triumphed by a score of 2-1, but in reality, the Rangers were last night’s real winners.…
