The Rangers came back to Madison Square Garden in midst of their road trip to face off against rival Pittsburgh Penguins. It was a night to forget for the Blueshirts as they fell in a dominating 7-2 loss. Besides from a par opening period, New York looked sloppy and plated with no determination. Unfortunately, Lundqvist’s’ fatigue finally showed as he put forth his worst performance of the season only stopping 12 of 18 shots faced before getting pulled to start the third period.
Hank did notice his mistakes after the game.
“Overall I thought we played a pretty good game, just the goaltending was not very good,” Lundqvist said. “It was probably my worst game.”
David Quinn took the blame away from Lundqvist and put it on himself, saying it was a “huge mistake on my part” playing Lundqvist tonight after the two intense road games vs. Nashville and St. Louis. “Certainly is way more on me than it is on him to put him in that position.

Certainly an awful loss for the Blueshirts on home ice but they will look to bounce back against the struggling Avalanche on Friday night.
